2010 Integral Fellows

Purpose

To recognize and support a Microsoft alumnus who has made a meaningful difference in the daily lives of others by using his/her talents, time and resources to contribute to the world.

Award

Up to four (4) alumni will receive a $25K award to go to the 501(c)(3) with which they work in the form of a one-year, unrestricted grant.

Criteria

  1. Embodies these qualities:
    1. Entrepreneurial: Incorporates the best of his/her experience at Microsoft and applies it in the nonprofit arena.
    2. Innovative: Addresses the problem in a new and innovative way.
    3. Effective: His/her work has had a measurable, positive impact.
    4. Collaborative: Engages in work that goes beyond the individual, fostering ideas that bring people together to accomplish more.
  2. Demonstrates a majority of the following characteristics:
    1. Alchemy: Created something extraordinary out of nothing, or very little, be it a simple idea, or limited resources.
    2. Selflessness: Examples may include volunteering or taking a significant pay-cut to do this work.
    3. Passion: Exhibits extraordinary commitment to his/her cause.
    4. Smart: Looks at the project through a critical business lens.
    5. Need: Works on a project where MSAF’s support can make a difference.
    6. Scalable: Project serves as a model for replication, or is ready to scale.
