The Microsoft Alumni Foundation’s mission is to be the home for information, opportunities and connections to the philanthropic activities of the Microsoft alumni community.

Who is the Executive Director?

Marylou Brannan was appointed as Executive Director of the Microsoft Alumni Foundation in October 2010. Please read more about Marylou in our About Us section.

What is your relationship with the Gates Foundation?

The Gates Foundation is an excellent example of a nonprofit organization started by Microsoft alumni working to bring solutions to some of society's toughest challenges both at home and abroad - improved health care and improved education. We work together with the Gates Foundation as we do with other of our Alumni nonprofit organizations.

What is your relationship with Microsoft Corporation?

We have a close working relationship with Microsoft Corporation, and are pleased to be a part of the continuum of giving that Microsoft so values. We are delighted that Akhtar Badshah, Senior Director Global Community Affairs, Microsoft Corporation sits on our Board of Directors, as Vice President. Brad Smith, Microsoft’s General Counsel and Senior Vice President serves on our board as the Microsoft Representative.

Microsoft Corporation has been a sponsor for our annual Celebration Event, and the company also provides donations of its products to us via TechSoup.  MSAF also partners with Microsoft for Day of Caring each September, where alumni have the opportunity to work along side current employees on volunteer projects for MSAF nonprofit partners.

What is your relationship with the Microsoft Alumni Network?

Microsoft Alumni Network (MSA) is a "sister" organization.  As a part of their ongoing membership drive, Microsoft alumni have the opportunity to join MSA and support the work of the Foundation at any level.  We hope alumni recognize the value of being part of a vibrant community.
